WHAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT
PLASTIC BAGS

Plastic bags don’t biodegrade over time. Instead they slowly break down into small pieces. Why is this dangerous?

Lots of these tiny pieces of plastic end up floating in the world’s oceans. Many animals think that the plastic is actually plankton or jellyfish — the food they naturally eat. As a result, thousands of birds, sea turtles, fish, and sea mammals die from eating the plastic or they get tangled in larger pieces that float by.

Take Action
Reduce your use of plastic bags. Do without a bag if you can
Use a canvas bag when you shop
Bring the same bag to the store with you. Keep one in the car
Bring your plastic bags to a store’s bag recycling bin
Bring dry cleaning bags back to the cleaners for them to use again
